Hawes Family Association

Purpose

The Purpose of the Association is to continue to collect and preserve family histories of Hawes people and allied families; to share our knowledge of family histories and to strengthen extended family ties. The association was established by Helen Hawes Hudgins and Anna Hawes Greaves in 1989, to include all the descendants of Samuel Hawes I of Colonial Virginia. Samuel Hawes I was born circa 1675, and died circa 1769 in Caroline County, Virginia. All family members descend from one of Samuel Hawes I. Much of this history in contained in the “Blue Book” which has been reissued in digital format for ease in researching the family. Recently a genealogy page has been added to the website, and files are being added for download listing various branches of the family.
