Purpose

The purpose of the Association is to continue to collect and preserve family histories of Hawes people and allied families; to share our knowledge of family histories and to strengthen extended family ties. The association was established by Helen Hawes Hudgins and Anna Hawes Greaves in 1989, to include all the descendants of Samuel Hawes I of Colonial Virginia. Samuel Hawes I was born circa 1675, and died circa 1769 in Caroline County, Virginia. All family members descend from Samuel Hawes I. Much of this history in contained in the “Blue Book” which has been reissued in digital format for ease in researching the family. Files on the genealogy page can be downloaded for various branches of the family.
